As the harvest period approaches, it signifies a significant milestone for the farmers involved. The Mabalie Village Farmers Association have put in months of hard work, dedication, and expertise to nurture the rice crops, and now they eagerly await the fruit of their labor. Our 2024 target is to strengthen the support and expand the initiative through partnerships with other interested individuals and organizations. Mabalie Village is a very disadvantage community located in Maforki Chiefdom Port Loko District. The Rice Loan for Farmers project will not only promote rural farming but also contribute to the overall food sufficiency of the country.
With increased rice production, there will be a more stable supply of this essential staple, ensuring a steady source of food for the local community and potentially creating surplus that can be further distributed or sold. Beyond the immediate impact on the farmers’ income and food security, the success of this pilot phase will pave the way for the expansion of the Rice Loan for Farmers project. As our beneficiaries await to witness the positive outcomes and benefits of the initiative, it will definitely encourages other farmers groups to participate, leading to a broader impact on agricultural development in Port Loko District and the country as a whole.
