In Partnership with Fruitful Healthcare
Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation Ends a 16-Weeks Post-Secondary Internship for 40 Young People in Port Loko City
The program that commenced on the first week of July has successfully ended on the 1st of November, 2023. A day that also marks the celebration of the African Youth Day. The Post-Secondary Internship Program was a very meaningful and thrilling experience for young people who endured to the last minute of the program. During the time for applications, 75 young people collected the forms, 69 returned the forms and attended the interview that was conducted by a panel of key stakeholders on the 5th of July at the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation conference parlor. 60 were shortlisted, and 55 attended the orientation on the 8th of July, 2023. Along the process, 15 young people were asked out of the program for not complying with rules and regulations of the internship program, especially their perpetual failure to attend sessions every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. After fulfilling all the requirements, 40 young people will be certified on the 9th of December for successfully completing a 16-week internship under the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation with support from Fruitful Healthcare Sierra Leone
Both Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation and Fruitful Healthcare strongly believe that when young people are empowered, they are more likely to participate in the development process of their respective communities and the country as a whole. The Post-Secondary Internship is an annual capacity building program that seeks to meaningfully engage and inspire young people who have completed their high school education (West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination). The internship is an environment that provides the required knowledge, skills, and experience to help unfold the lives of young people by finding their voice, finding their place of belonging, and finding their passion. The initiative further gives the opportunity to every intern to be able to analyze their own strengths, weaknesses, and set personal goals that will enable them to overcome the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
Considering the fact that young people are the next set of leaders, the internship also provides training on leadership development so that they can be able to unearth their full potential interims of leadership at all levels. Overall, the Post-Secondary Internship is a career experience, exposure, and development program for young people who are very passionate, committed, and interested to strengthen their vision, make use of their time and focus on building themselves in line with the adage which says: If you are not empowered you cannot be able empower others. Congratulations to our 40 young people who have endured to the very last-minute of the 3rd Batch of the Post-Secondary Internship Program 2023. To all successful interns, we wish you all the best in the next phase of your life endeavors, especially on the academic.
Upon successfully ending such an empowerment drive for young people, we are grateful to the Chief Executive Officer for Fruitful Healthcare Sierra Leone/USA, Mr. Abu Bakarr George Sillah, for always providing the needed support to the progress of the program. We equally want to seize the opportunity to express our gratitude and deepest appreciation to all those who have contributed greatly and in any little way, especially our session facilitators, for the knowledge they have impacted on our youths. Please note that you will be invited to receive certificates of appreciation while the young people will receive completion certificates of the 2023 internship. To our team at Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation, you guys are exceptional on your coordinating skills and passion to maximize the efforts of other young people towards development and progress. We are excited to reach this far and looking forward to another year of recruiting the 4th batch of the Post-Secondary Interns 2024. The Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation is a Youth-Led organization that seeks to contribute meaningfully to humanity, societal development, and national transformation, while Fruitful Healthcare is a non-profit humanitarian organization working in Sierra Leone and in the United States of America to support less privileged people and disadvantaged communities.
